The drying process consists of the following steps:
1. Material Feeding:
Sand is transported to the hopper via a belt conveyor or bucket elevator.
A feeding pipe with a steeper slope than the sand's natural angle of repose ensures smooth entry into the dryer.
2. Drying Cylinder Operation:
The rotating drum, slightly inclined to the horizontal, is the core component.
Sand enters from the higher end, while the heating medium (hot air or flue gas) flows from the lower end, creating a countercurrent or concurrent drying process.
Gravity moves the material toward the lower end as the drum rotates.
3. Heat Transfer and Drying:
Inside the drum, lifters scatter and mix the sand, increasing its contact surface with the hot air for faster drying.
The drying medium transfers heat directly or indirectly to the wet sand, efficiently reducing its moisture content.
4. Dust Removal and Output:
After drying, the sand exits via a conveyor at the discharge end.
The exhaust gases are passed through a cyclone dust collector to capture fine particles.
For further air purification, bag filters or wet scrubbers can be added to minimize dust emissions.
